My goat

My momma goat died tonight, at about 1 am. We hope we can save the babies, if we can find some colostrum milk, and formula for them in the morning. I am so completely heartbroken.

I am so heart-broken for you and for the baby goats. I still can't fathom how she could just die. What a roller-coaster day to be so thrilled to have the beautiful babies and then so sad to have Gretta die.

I was thinking if there is a "tender mercy" in this situation, it is that the babies were born early. She could have just as easily died tonight and not had the babies yet, so Heavenly Father does keep track of these things, even if we don't understand why she had to die.

I love you so much and my heart truly is aching every beat with yours. Love, MOM

Oh, Alicia! I'm SO sorry. This must be devastating. I hope that you can get the help you need for the little ones. It will be a challenge for you, with all that you already have going on right now. My heart goes out to you.

Much love, Earlene and Scott

Alicia: I am so sorry. I hate it when things like this happen. You may have already figured this out, but the babies don't need cholostrom if they have already sucked. Go to the feed store and get milk replacer for goats & lambs. Better yet, if someone has extra goat milk that would be cheaper. They will do fine on the milk replacer. Should be fed three times a day at first, then twice. I have bottle raised many goats and lambs and it is fun, but am sorry about Gretta. With four babies, they probably would have needed some extra feeding anyway. Thats quite a bit for a momma to raise. Good luck! Carol Voss
